Shipping a Firearm
At Blue Diamond Concepts, we are committed to the safe, secure, and lawful handling of all firearms sent to our facility for customization, coatings, repairs, or other services. To ensure a smooth process, please carefully read and follow the policy outlined below.
1. Legal Compliance
All shipments must comply with federal, state, and local laws, including those of both the sender’s and recipient’s jurisdictions.
You must be legally authorized to own and ship a firearm.
We are an FFL (Federal Firearms License) holder, and we can receive firearms directly from the owner or another FFL.
2. Shipping from a Non-FFL Holder (Individual)
You may ship your firearm directly to us without going through an FFL, but we can only return it to the person who sent it.
Include a legible copy of your driver’s license or government-issued photo ID inside the package.
We cannot ship your firearm to a third party unless it goes through a licensed FFL.
3. Shipping from an FFL Dealer
If your firearm is being sent by an FFL, they must include a copy of their current FFL license with the shipment.
Upon completion, we can return the firearm directly to the FFL for transfer.
4. Packaging and Labeling
Firearms must be unloaded. No ammunition is allowed in the package.
Use high-quality, rigid boxes with adequate padding to prevent damage in transit.
Do not label the outside of the package with words like "gun," "firearm," "weapon." Use our business name or initials only.
Include the following in the package:
Your full name, return address, and contact info (phone & email)
Description of the firearm (make, model, serial number)
A copy of your ID (if you're a non-FFL)
5. Shipping Carriers
FedEx Firearm Shipping Guidelines
Allowed
Long guns and handguns can be shipped only between FFL holders, or from individuals to FFLs for gunsmithing or repair work (which applies to you).
Individuals (non-FFLs) may ship to an FFL if legally permitted.
How to Ship
Handguns must be shipped via FedEx Priority Overnight. This is a FedEx policy to reduce risk of loss or theft.
Long guns can be shipped via Ground or Express services.
Requirements
Firearm must be unloaded.
Include a copy of your ID (if a private individual) or FFL license (if shipped from a dealer).
Use a plain outer box — no markings indicating contents.
The package must be shipped from a staffed FedEx location (not a drop box or third-party retail center like Walgreens or Office Depot).
Pickup Note
FedEx will not pick up packages containing firearms from a residence — you must bring the package to a FedEx Ship Center.
UPS Firearm Shipping Guidelines
Allowed
Non-FFL individuals can ship firearms to an FFL for repair or customization.
Return shipments can only go to the same individual or through another FFL if requested.
How to Ship
Handguns must be shipped via UPS Next Day Air services.
Rifles and shotguns may be shipped via UPS Ground.
Requirements
Must declare the shipment as a firearm at drop-off.
Package must be shipped from a UPS Customer Center (not a UPS Store or third-party outlet).
Package must be securely packaged with no external markings indicating a firearm.
Include your photo ID (non-FFL) or your FFL license copy (if applicable).
Pickup Note
UPS does not allow residential pickups for firearms — you must take the package to a staffed UPS Customer Center.
General Best Practices for Both Carriers
Always require adult signature on delivery.
Insure your firearm for its full replacement value.
Keep your tracking number and receipt until delivery is confirmed.
Clearly communicate with Blue Diamond Concepts before shipping so we know to expect your firearm.
6. Return Shipping
Return shipping will be billed to you and must be paid in full before the firearm is shipped back.
We ship firearms only to:
The original sender (with matching ID), or
A licensed FFL (if you request the firearm to be shipped to a different location)
7. Liability
Blue Diamond Concepts is not liable for damage, loss, or theft of firearms while in transit. Please consider purchasing insurance through your carrier.
Once your firearm is received from you, it will be securely stored and logged per ATF regulations.
8. Turnaround Time & Updates
We strive to provide clear timelines for all services. You will be contacted once your work is completed and ready for return.
